Collection of information and privacy protection

 

JustAskUs makes every effort to adhere to the Guidelines for Federal and ACT Government World Wide Websites developed by the Australian Privacy Commissioner. More information

Information provided through the JustAskUs website will comply with Information Privacy Principles, and particularly principles 1 to 3, 10 and 11.

Stated simply these principles are:

  • Principle 1: Collection of information must be lawful and fair
  • Principle 2: Informing people why information is collected
  • Principle 3: Ensuring personal information collected is of good quality and not too intrusive
  • Principle 10: Limiting the use of personal information to the purpose for which it was obtained

Data collected while browsing

JustAskUs does not collect information that can identify any person who visits the site. However, when someone visits the site, our server makes a record of the visit and logs the following information for anonymous reporting of traffic statistics:

  • the user's server address
  • the user's top level domain name
  • the date and time of visit to the site
  • the pages accessed and documents downloads
  • the previous site visited
  • any search words used
  • the type of browser software used

This information is analysed each month to help us monitor traffic loads and accessibility of the pages on our site. No attempt will be made to identify persons using the site, except in the unlikely event of an investigation, where a law enforcement agency may wish to inspect server log files.

Your email address

 

JustAskUs will only record your email address in the event that you send us a message by email. Your email address will only be used for the purpose for which you have provided it. Your email address will not be added to any mailing lists without your prior consent by way of a specific request in writing. We will not use or disclose your email address for any other purpose, without your prior written consent.

Cookies

JustAskUs uses 'cookies' for maintaining contact with a user during and between web browsing sessions. A cookie is a small file supplied by JustAskUs and stored on your computer by your web browser software when you access this site. One cookie is used so that JustAskUs can recognise you as a unique user as you move around the site, and when you return to the site on different occasions - this allows us to get a more accurate picture of how many unique users are visiting our site, and how often they come back. Please note that this cookie does not store any personal information about you, and can in no way be used to identify a person.
